A Brief Overview
The Lead Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for directing the activities of Ultrasound Technologists on the assigned shift. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Provides Practice Excellence through assessment, care, evaluation and education to patients and families in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains and promotes compliance with all regulatory requirements, reimbursement standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility.
- Provides Leadership Excellence in the clinical practice area. Collaborates with technical staff in organizing daily workflow and patient care.
- Demonstrates a commitment to Learning Excellence through professional development and clinical expertise.
- Demonstrates Role Clarity through professional competence, expertise, and knowledge, and supports the radiology profession through role modeling and fostering an environment of growth and learning.
- Promotes Cultural Excellence with recognition and appreciation for cultural, ethnic, and generational diversity.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

- Required - Bachelor's Degree Health Arts
- Preferred - Associates Degree Ultrasound
- Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Ultrasound

- Required - BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
- Required - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer -Breast - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Required - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Required - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Obstetrics and Gynecology - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Preferred - Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International
- Preferred - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Neurosonology - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Preferred - Registered Vascular Technologist - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership potential.
- Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials, such as patient records and technical manuals.
- Ability to communicate verbally with co-workers, physicians and patients and their families.
- Prepared by education, training, or experience to work with adult, geriatric, pediatric, or neonate patients.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- Leads and guides Ultrasound Techs and trainees.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
- Handling and administering narcotics periodically throughout shift.
